New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and the New York-based
law firm Dreier LLP have teamed together since 2006 to stage an
annual event raising money to improve the lives of underprivileged
children in the New York community.
This year the tournament will benefit Children’s Rights – a national
advocacy group that is working to bring about lasting improvements
in child protection, foster care and adoption – and Keep a Child
Alive – an organization created as an urgent response to the AIDS
pandemic ravaging Africa, which provides life-saving medication,
support and orphan care to keep African children and families alive.
“Hosting this event is a great way for us to give back and help
improve the lives of children in the New York community,” stated
Mr. Strahan. “Helping kids is the most important thing about this.
The Michael Strahan/Dreier LLP Charity Golf Tournament has brought
together top names in the world of sports and entertainment, along
with leaders in corporate America.
This year the tournament will also be a celebration of the New
York Giants Super Bowl victory and will include various members
of the Championship team.
Celebrities who have participated in the golf event
include Eli Manning, Eric Dickerson, Deacon Jones, Sean Jones,
Julius Erving, Warren Sapp, Marcus Allen, Jamal Anderson, Vince
Coleman, Harry Carson, Clyde Drexler, Wayne Chrebet, Jeremy Lincoln,
Tony Siragusa, Vencie Glenn, Ahmad Rashad, Spud Webb, Bruce Smith,
Harold Green, Greg Anthony, Richard Dent, Sterling Sharpe, Tim
Brown, Marshall Faulk, Luis Castillo, Phillippi Sparks, Ki-Jana
Carter, William Shatner and Alphonso Ribiero, among others. Many
of them, and other celebrities, are expected to attend this year.
